Abi Spurrell

Chutchie Loves

Hi Abi,

Tell us about your business and the type of products you sell?

I started Chutchie Loves in August 2018, an online boutique and brand of funky chic clothing for women, plus kids accessories.

I select products from around the world and lucky enough to have on board Flexi Fash active wear leggings (sister brand of Flexi Lexi) They are great for gym to street wear with fun designs!

Snugs Hand Knits also joined us last year, all items are designed and hand knitted in the Cotswolds by a very talented knitter. She only uses the softest Merino, Alpaca and Cashmere yarns to create beautiful beanie hats, scarves, sweaters and more . The beanies come in lots of different colours and detachable faux fur pom poms for adults and kids.

How did you come up with the idea and what motivated you to go for it?

I have always wanted to start my own online business so whilst on Maternity Leave and taking a break from the 9-5 office job I decided to give it a go.

I have a passion for funky clothing especially leggings so that is where the idea came from and the business grew from there.

What is your best selling product?

The Pineapple Yoga Leggings by Flexi Fash have been really popular, and the Snugs Hand Knits beanies for adults and kids especially over Christmas, they make lovely presents.

What do you love about running your own business and what do you find hard?

I love that it’s mine, a business that I have set up from scratch and run on my own. From building the website, sourcing products, photographing all the products, designing the packaging, marketing to packing the orders.

I find the marketing side challenging and coming up with new creative ideas on social media.

What kind of Boss Mum are you and how do you manage the juggle?

I try to be organised with endless notes, spread sheets and folders, but most of the time I am winging it. I work on new ideas, my website, customer orders in the evenings after my son has gone to bed.

Do you have a favourite app or work tool you think everyone should know about?

I use Canva (graphic design tool) for everything from social media posts, my logo and my business cards, a really handy app..

How do you define success?

I define success by feeling proud of what I have achieved so far and being excited about where it will take me next. What is a normal day in your life like?

What has been a particular highlight for you since starting your business?

My biggest highlight is all the feedback and support I have received, makes it all worth while.

What is your favourite Social Media platform and how has it helped in your success?

Instagram has been a great platform to get started and get the name out there. It’s been key for networking and getting inspiration from other small businesses.

Who inspires you?

My Mum inspires me and encouraged me to set-up my own business. She gives me ideas and keeps me going when things aren’t going to plan.

Thanks for giving us an insight into life behind the Chutchie Loves Abi, we love having you as a Member of the Tribe.
