Hi Louise,
Tell us about the services you offer?

Social media platforms have fast become a great place to market your business, however, the competition is fierce and it is crucial that you find a way to help your brand stand out for all the right reasons!

I completely understand how precious time is as a small business owner and how finding the time and creativity to make them can be challenging especially when you are wearing all of the hats and feeling overwhelmed by your ‘to do’ list!  Therefore, my aim is to help support you by creating and designing your graphic content so that you have a bank of graphics that speak your brand’s story for you and you never have to be hunting around for that one on-brand image to fit your beautiful copy ever again!

Whether you are looking for help creating posts regularly, for a one-off project or would even like some templates made up specifically for your brand, then I would love to learn more about your amazing brand and explore how I can support you!

How did you come up with the idea and what motivated you to go for it?

I’m a mum of two with a background working in childcare so have extensive experience juggling many plates.

After the birth of my youngest, I retrained with Digital Mums who ran an amazing Live learning programme and in March 2017, I graduated with their Diploma in Strategic Social Media Marketing.  It was intensive and hard work but it was also where I first discovered how much I enjoyed the creativity side of social media through running my own campaign.

I was fortunate to do some freelance work with an inspiring small business owner for a few years creating content behind the scenes and learning new skills as well as being a part of a great community of like-minded people.  It gave me the opportunity to do something I love, be creative and find that elusive work-life balance so I could still be there for my family.  However, I also wanted to explore my own love of all things creative more. which is how I came up with the idea for my own creative business, whilst continuing to develop my skills and learn more about Graphic Design.

What do you love about running your own business and what do you find hard?

I love the flexibility to work the hours that suit me and seeing my creative ideas come to life however it is very hard as a start up to put yourself out there and market yourself especially when you feel that there are a lot more experienced and “professional” people out there.

What kind of BossMum are you and how do you manage the juggle?

I am a mixture of being organised and winging it, aren’t we all? Certain things I like a plan and routine for however there are plenty of times depending on my mood where I just see where the day takes me.

Do you have a favourite app or work tool you think everyone should know about?

I love Canva!  In fact, it is the main tool I use when creating my designs for other small business owners. I also love the Mojo app for creating videos or animated text as well as using Toggle track to see how much time I spend working on projects.

How do you define success?

Success for me is about doing something you enjoy and being happy, anything else that happens as a result of that is a bonus!

What’s next for your business?

I am currently working on expanding my services and hope to soon offer templates that can be adapted to fit in with businesses own brand.

What is your favourite Social Media platform and how has it helped in your success?

I have used various platforms over the years but it definitely has to be Instagram. I have found so many small businesses from it that I love to support and find it has a great community that you can build relationships through. It is also where my target audience is.

Who inspires you?

Friends that I’ve known for a few years or made since starting working for myself that despite any challenges thrown their way or fitting in other work commitments work hard to make it through the day, be a success and still have time for others.

What was your dream job growing up?

I wanted to be an architect and used to love designing house plans, I guess that is where some of creativity has lead me to where I am today!

Tell us 3 facts about you…
  1. I don’t drink tea, coffee, wine, champagne or beer – yes I’m a bit weird like that but I do love a cocktail!
  2. I jumped out of a plane at 12,000 feet when I spent a year backpacking around Australia.
  3. My parents are English and not long after they got married they moved to Scotland which is where I was born. My grandparents always used to struggle with my accent and one of my cousins in particular always used to tease me about it.

What do you enjoy most about being a part of Mama Tribe?

I love the community support it offers and when starting out I knew just which businesses I could approach to help with different aspects of my brand.

Thanks for giving us an insight into life behind Marcie James Designs Louise, we love having you as a Member of the Tribe.
