Pip Squared

Hi Steph,

When did you set up Pip Squared and what inspired you to do so?

I set up Pip Squared whilst on maternity leave with my second child last year. I was really keen to spend more time at home with my two children, rather than returning to my full time employment.

Tell us about the service you offer?

I offer social media and analytics management. This involves managing all aspects of social media, such as creating strategies, setting up and running accounts, content creation and building communities. In addition I monitor and interpret data. Analysing and evaluating performance of campaigns, activity and customers on social media, then using the results to help clients make informed decisions to reach their business goals.

What are the best and worst things about running your own business?

I love being able to work around my family. However, there is so much that I would like to do and achieve, that it can be hard to fit it all in.

How do you structure your days?

I spend the majority of the day with my two children, with just a small amount of engagement on social media. I then work predominantly in the evenings. I plan out my week and prioritise what needs doing and when. This keeps me focused on the task in hand, so that I do not work every night.

How do you balance work and family demands?

This is something that I constantly struggle with, as I’m sure most mums would agree. What I am doing works for now, but might not always be the case, so I like to review it regularly. I plan everything from work, to chores, to meals. I write it in my diary, making it easier for me to keep on top of things.

What future plans do you have for Pip Squared?

I am looking forward to building my brand and the services that I can offer. I want to help more people understand their data, and how it can benefit them.

And finally, what is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

‘Eat the Toad’. Quite simply this means doing the item you least like before anything else. Once it’s done you are not thinking about it and you feel a great sense of satisfaction.
