Styling The Slogan Trend
Mama Tribe Fashion Features
The story behind the slogan trend
Dior kicked it off with their viral ‘We should all be feminists’ statement tee. Since then it has become a wardrobe staple for most.
It may have started off as a bit of novelty piece in your wardrobe, a bit of fun fashion to play around with but now it’s turned into a true fashion hero piece.
The power of the slogan trend
There isn’t much it can’t do and nothing it can’t be paired back with.
They are fun, provides a message without actually saying a word and creates a chic look instantly. You can choose to get political with it or simply have a message that expresses your mood for the day! It’s the piece you can throw on and let the rest of your outfit just, well, chill out.
Don’t worry though if the slogan trend just reminds you of your brownie uniform as a kid. There are plenty of ways to do the grown up logo look. Whether it be with jeans for an off duty weekend look, or for that evening outfit tucking it into a metallic midi pleated skirt with socks and heels, there is something for everyone.
Logo styling inspiration
Here are 3 ways you could wear the slogan trend…
The ‘Athlesiure’ look
The slogan tee fits well into the athlesiure trend so it only seems appropriate to style it up here.
Everything from dresses, blazers to jumpers have been given the side stripe taking the athlesiure look up a notch so there are plenty of pieces out there to create this look.
Try a subtle slogan tee with coloured tapered trousers and some cute lace tie ups for a feminine approach to the athlesiure look.
Try adding your slogan top to a denim midi skirt featuring a sporty side stripe.
Style Hack: it’s all about getting the balance to nail the gym to street wear look. Mix your slouchy cashmere trousers with a cropped biker jacket, add a sporty jacket to your work look or slip on some trainers with a summer dress. Balance is key. Even if you don’t ever intend to hit the gym you can still have an outfit that looks great and it’s completely practical for Mum Life!
The 90s Mum Uniform look
This season it’s about throwing it back to the 90s! I have been looking back at what my own Mum was wearing back then and taking some serious style tips! The ‘mom’ jean and the ‘Dad trainer’ is having a fashion moment and it’s such an easy look to pull off, making you look like you’ve nailed the latest trends with no effort at all.
Try tucking your slogan jumper into your denim, add a belt, some socks and voila! A twist on the 90s look!
Or simply tuck a 3/4 sleeve boyfriend fit tee with some slim high waisted mom jeans and add some Stan Smiths or vans for that ultimate effortless outfit.
Style Hack: For an updated seasonal look keep denim washes dark. Indigo dark.
The statement look
If you are feeling brave or your style personality is generally a bit more colourful, louder and vibrant then you could bring a statement look to the school or nursery run.
Colour blocking is big for this season, you can mix and match colours such as green and purple or red and pink, yes, I know, I said red and pink!
You could go all out head to toe in one colour block. The trick is colour and lots of it!
The co-ordinated suit really does take the hassle out of looking awesome and sometimes you just want that outfit that does all the hard work for you. The 2 piece suit will do just that!
To get the most out of the 2 piece, mix and match with other pieces and your slogan top and you’ve instantly created one outfit into 3!
Try an updated version of the check heritage blazer by adding a longer length version to your tee, denim and some sling backs. Keep the tee untuck to create that laid back luxe look.
Style Hack: The power suit is a big trend for 2018 and you can get anything from floral, stripes, bright colours to slouchy and sharp pieces. Play around with different shapes. There are suits with longer jackets to cropped versions and trousers that a wide leg to short ankle grazers. There is something for everyone, keep it simple and stylish with your slogan tee untucked.
